Terry, who has a passion for hotrods, is the founder and company director of Asbestos Consultants NZ. He initially started as a builder and ran his own building company for over 20 years. When the building industry slowed down, he realized he needed to explore other options to either take over from building or continue building while also having additional work on the side to keep his employees in full-time work. In 1999, he established an asbestos removal company and continued building until he eventually gave up the building side of things to solely focus on running his asbestos removal company. This gave him extensive experience and knowledge, making him a proficient Asbestos Assessor and Surveyor. As regulations became more stringent around asbestos removal, Terry decided to change his path and become an asbestos assessor.
Aaron O'Keeffe
Operations Manager
Asbestos Class A/B Assessor/Surveyor
Aaron is a licensed asbestos assessor and surveyor who finds the variety in his job to be the most enjoyable aspect. He loves traveling extensively for work and meeting new clients who require their services for new projects. Before joining the family business, Aaron had a management background where he held the second-in-command position for one of the largest security firms in the country. He managed a vast area ranging from Taupo to Gisborne, which included Tauranga, Rotorua, Coromandel, and Whakatane. Following that, he managed a significant part of a hire car/transport company, overseeing around 40 drivers who supported children with special needs. Though he took pride in his previous job, Aaron couldn't resist the opportunity to join the family business and has never looked back since. He credits his dad for teaching him the ropes of the business and also learns from other asbestos removal companies and lab analysis staff to gain insight into the product.
Archie Britz
Operations
Asbestos Class A/B Assessor/Surveyor
Archie recently relocated from South Africa to New Zealand, and Aaron affectionately calls him Bourkiwi. With a mechanical background, Archie ran his own auto mechanic business for over 30 years, although he doesn't look his age. After opening up a shop in Tauranga, Archie was seeking a new direction in life and met Terry, who recognized his potential and offered to train him to become an asbestos assessor/surveyor. Although the asbestos industry is vastly different from the mechanic trade, Archie doesn't look back and enjoys the change. He's relieved that he can let his old hands rest now, instead of jamming them between an airbox and an engine. Archie is excited to meet you at your property when you use their services and wishes you a good day ahead with the South African slang "lekker.
