Asbestos Surveys
Did you know the Health & Safety at Work (Asbestos) Regulations 2016 outline the requirements for a Person Conducting a Business or Undertaking (PCBU) to identify asbestos in the following scenarios?
- Regulation 10 – Duty to ensure asbestos identified at workplace
- Regulation 21 – Duty to identify and remove asbestos before demolition of structure or plant
- Regulation 22 – Duty to identify and remove asbestos before demolition of home
- Regulation 25 – Duty to identify and remove asbestos before refurbishment of structure or plant
- Regulation 26 – Duty to identify and remove asbestos before refurbishment of home
This means that if your premises were constructed prior to 2016, there is a chance that it may contain asbestos.
When you need to know if there is asbestos in your property – Asbestos Consultants can help you select the survey which is suitable for you.
Being an independent consultancy, which does not carry out asbestos removal, we have no vested interest in discovering asbestos in your property.
You can be assured we strictly adhere to the highest standard that places responsibility on both you (the duty holder) and us, the surveyors to identify asbestos if it exists in your building.
Management Asbestos Survey
The Health and Safety at Work Act 2015 requires the Person Conducting a Business or Undertaking (PCBU) to identify asbestos in the workplace, to manage the risks from asbestos with an adequate documented management plan, and to regularly review the management plan. The first step to achieving this duty is to procure an asbestos survey.
A non-intrusive survey
Designed to cover all visible and accessible areas of the property. It is structured to account for general daily activities likely to occur within a property during normal occupation and use – including maintenance.
Once completed, should any asbestos be present, the Management Survey will detail the asbestos type, location, extent, condition, any surface treatment and any remedial action to be taken.
We can then help you meet the requirement to draw up a ‘management plan’ to protect employees, tenants or contractors from exposure to asbestos.
